The 2008 - 2009 Scholarhip Program

The first PFAA Scholarhip competition, which was held in 1982, drew seven local music students and presented awards totaling $500. Under the guidance of JoAn Ramsay and with the support of the community, the program has flourished. More recently with JoAn Ramsay as co-chair with Jim Ward, the program welcomed 174 participants and presented awards exceeding $10,877 - plus tuition to Idyllwild Summer Arts Camp, NAU Music Camp and other music summer camps.

High School Students who reside in Yavapai County are eligible to compete in categories including Art, Drama, Instrumental Strings, Instumental Winds & Percussion, Musical theatre, Piano and Voice. The Art Catagory is also open to college students to the age of 23.

Much of the success of this program is due to the continued generosity of the following: City of Prescott Acker Trust Board, PFAA Concert Committee and concert audiences, DISE Foundation, Dorothy Jones King, Kiwanis Club of Prescott, League of PFAA, J.W. Kieckheffer Foundation, Margaret Morris Foundation, and the many donors whose contributions help to recognize and support the talented young people of Yavapai County.
